On Oct 8th, Kim Ji-eun sat down for an interview at HB Entertainment’s headquarters in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, discussing tvN’s Saturday-Sunday drama “Love Next Door“.
In the drama, Kim Ji-eun portrayed the passionate 119 paramedic Jeong Mo-eum. She realistically depicted her friendships with childhood friends Bae Seok-ryu (played by Jung So-min) and Choi Seung-hyo (played by Jung Hae-in), and her bittersweet romance with Kang Dan-ho (played by Yoon Ji-on). Her detailed emotional expressions and strong acting skills significantly enhanced the show’s quality.
The actors’ friendship translated into chemistry that resonated with viewers. Jung Hae-in and Jung So-min’s bond was so strong that dating rumors even surfaced. Kim Ji-eun talked about the rumors, “When I heard about the dating rumors, I thought, ‘Eyy.’”
She explained, “Jung Hae-in is kind and caring to everyone, while Jung So-min responds with a lively energy. Their chemistry was great, and I think viewers saw how well they got along. I knew right away it wasn’t true. The rumors likely started because their on-screen chemistry was so intense.”
As for why she didn’t face similar rumors with Yoon Ji-on, she said, “Yoon Ji-on is quiet and reserved, even more so than his character Kang Dan-ho. He only opens up when he’s very close with someone. He’s not the type to show affection to everyone. I noticed his kind side and tried to bring it out, but I guess others didn’t see it as much. He’s incredibly thoughtful, though. He knew I was filming a historical drama and even gave me vitamins.”
